Zoho Desk

Written by Alex Brainin

Ringotel has out-of-the-box integration with Zoho Desk. The integration provides the following features:

✅ Identifies contacts on incoming and outgoing calls.

✅ Provides access to your CRM contacts from the Ringotel mobile or desktop app.

✅ Imports contacts from the CRM into the contact lists of Ringotel users.

✅ Automatically syncs contacts with the CRM when creating them from the Ringotel mobile or desktop app.

✅ Automatically creates Phone Call entities on incoming or outgoing calls from Contacts and Leads.

✅ Pre-populates the call subject field with the other party's number.

✅ Provides links to a Contact and Phone Call entity to open them from the Ringotel app.

✅ Syncs call recording, call subject, and call comment with the corresponding call activity record in CRM.

Note:

To be able to log Calls in Zoho Desk via the integration, Professional or Enterprise subscription to Zoho Desk is required.

Creating a Client app and getting the Client Id and Client Secret

Navigate to the Zoho API Console site (default URL is https://api-console.zoho.com, the domain changes based on your Zoho domain (for example, for zoho.eu it would be https://api-console.zoho.eu, for http://zoho.com.au it would be https://api-console.zoho.com.au).

Click on Get Started if you have no existing clients or Add Client if you already have one, select the Mobile-based applications client type, and click Create Now.

Give your client a name and Homepage URL (can have any value that you choose), and set the redirect URL, which by default should point to the Ringotel Shell Portal:

https://shell.ringotel.co/services/ZohoDesk

Note:

If you are using a custom Ringotel portal, your redirect URL should look like this: https:/your_custom_portal/services/ZohoDesk

After that, please click Create.

Then navigate to the Settings tab of the newly created Client and enable the client for the Zoho domain you are using or enable it for all domains.

Next, navigate to the Client Secret tab and save the Client Id and Client Secret you see there.

This should wrap up the setup on the Zoho API console side. Next, we will need to grab the Department Id and Organization Id from Zoho Desk.

Getting Organization Id and Department Id from Zoho Desk

Please log in to your Zoho Desk account and navigate to Settings -> APIs.

There you will see your Organization Id in your API plan details.

Please save the Organization Id as we will need it to set up the integration.

The last thing we will need is the Department Id.

Please navigate to the Departments tab in Settings.

Select the department that will be using the integration.

This should open the department settings tab.

What we actually need is the URL of the tab itself. It should look something like this:

https://desk.zoho.eu/agent/ringotest/ringotest/setup#setup/general/departments/267675000000007061

The number after /departments/ (267675000000007061 in the example above) is the Department Id we are looking for.

Please save it and this should wrap up the setup on the Zoho end.

Setting up the integration in Ringotel shell portal

Sign in to your Ringotel Shell admin portal and navigate to your Organization -> Integrations tab and click on the Zoho Desk card.

Click “Enable Integration” in the Zoho Desk integration and specify in the Zoho domain field the base Zoho domain where your Zoho account is created (e.g., zoho.com, zoho.eu, zoho.com.au, zoho.in, or zoho.jp).

Note:

Please specify the domain name in lowercase.

After that, please fill the OrgId field with your Organization Id you got earlier and fill the rest of the fields with the relevant information.

After all the fields have been filled, please click Save & Continue.

If the data provided was correct, you should be redirected to your Zoho Desk authentication page and then be prompted to give access to the app you have created.

Check the checkbox and click Accept.

After that, you should be redirected back to the Ringotel portal where you should be able to map your Zoho Desk users to your Ringotel users to enable the integration for those Ringotel users.

Click Save changes. Now the integration should be configured for the mapped users.
