Assigning Departments to Users

In Ringotel, you have the ability to assign departments to both activated and deactivated users. This feature is especially helpful for softphone users in large organizations, as it allows them to easily find their team-mates within the app.

How to Assign a Department

To assign a department to a new user, simply enter the department name in the designated field during the user's setup process. To assign a department to an existing user, follow these steps:

  1. Click Edit button (pencil icon) on the user's panel or open the user's context menu and select Edit.

  2. Click on the "Show more fields" link and enter the department name in the designated field.

  3. If you have already assigned departments to other users in your organization, you will be able to select a department from the list.

How Does it Work?

In the Ringotel softphone app, users will see their team-mates from their own department listed at the top of the Users tab. All other departments will be listed below.

Users who are not part of any departments will be listed under the Users group, while deactivated users who are not part of any departments will be listed under the Extensions group.

Finding Users from a Specific Department

If you need to find users from a specific department, you can use the search field in the Users tab. Simply enter the department name in the search field and you will be provided with a list of users assigned to that department.
